Advent 1 Zion Sunday Livestream 11.28.21

We begin Advent by lighting the first candle: FIRST CANDLE – (blue) THE PROPHECY CANDLE or CANDLE OF HOPE

Traditionally the first candle of advent is known as the Prophecy Candle or the Candle of Hope. It is known as the Prophecy Candle to anticipate the coming of Christ as foretold by the prophets. It is known also as the Candle of Hope because the advent season points us to the reality that our hope comes from God! God is faithful and he keeps his promises. This is exemplified in the “coming” (advent) of our Savior and King.

“And again, Isaiah says, ‘The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him.’ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:12-13
