Tenebrae is the service of darkness, meaning that the lights dim over the course of the evening between Sripture readings and haunting and beautiful music as we cememorate Christ's crucifixion. The drama of the service continues our journey to Holy Week and inserts the congregation as witnesses of Christ's death on the cross for the redemption of all of humanity. Our Good Friday Tenebrae Service is a haunting, dramatic, and reverant way for us as we continue our Holy Week journey that anticipates Christ's resurrection on Easter.
Exercising an abundance of caution in the wake of COVID-19, masks are required. We will hold to the standards of social distancing and will abstain from singing, as singing is considered a "super-spreading event" even while wearing masks. Though the hymns and music will serve as meditative pieces that prepare and orient our hearts toward God in worship. Join us! All are welcome!
