Let’s gather with other Christians around the city to spend some time in prayer at specific locales where sin and injustice has taken place against the black community. We will spend this evenings in prayer and lament, seeking reconciliation by turning places of pain into altars of prayer.
MON, JUNE 15
In 1981, two on-duty police officers toss four dead opossums in front of the Burger Barn, a black-owned restaurant in Northeast Portland. Meet and walk to Portland Covenant Church.
Time: 5:30 – 7 PM
Location: 3962 NE MLK Jr Blvd
Gather with us all week, leading up to Juneteenth, as we make space for acknowledgement, silence, prayer, and worship. We encourage you to learn about the events that have occurred at each location prior to our prayer gathering to give you context for your prayer. These events are rain or shine. Hosted by MorePrayer and 24-7 Prayer.
Notes: Please wear a mask out of respect for those around you, and make a reasonable effort to remain 6 feet from those outside your household. Our heart is to peacefully gather in prayer and unity. Please do not bring controversial or political signs. Our aim is to uphold, stand with, and lament with the Black community.
